Why do I do what I do? I enjoy sharing and teaching about God’s love to all age kids – from little all the way up to youth.
How did this part of my Christian journey begin? It began when I was about 6 years old in Mrs. Schuman’s class. She was my first Sunday School teacher. Her teaching radiated God’s love to me. Her teaching was filled with and showed me God’s love and care for just for me. She made a big impact on me.
As I grew older, I helped with a VBS class and found I loved to teach kids about God’s love. To see their eyes light up, their openness, and their eagerness to learn about God’s love and care for them is what I love about teaching kids.
Years later at AUMC, I started teaching the little kids again. During this time, Dayna Hauschield asked me to be on the Christian Education Committee where I could help with the guiding of the teaching of little kids.
It wasn’t long before God opened my eyes and heart to the need to help with the youth group. I saw that they too are eager to learn about God’s love and care just for them. I enjoy seeing some of the youth that I had in Sunday School in youth group.
What I have learned? Teaching and showing God’s love and care for the little ones and older ones is not a waste of time. God uses this teaching and example to saturate each and every one of them. As Proverbs says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 It is such a thrill to show them and teach them God’s love and care.
